Transcript for "Empower Your Institution to Thrive With Workday’s AI": Hi, everyone. Good morning. Good afternoon. Welcome to Work AI. Give just a second here for people to join. Alright. Well, think we'll go ahead and get started. It looks like we're stabilizing on the number of people in the room. So again, good morning, good afternoon, wherever you're at today, and welcome. Thanks a bunch for coming to our conversation today on Workday AI for higher education. Before we get started, a couple of quick announcements. Number one, it's always important for us here at Workday that we make our best attempt to describe features and functions that are live in production. We want you to make a purchasing decision based on those features and functions that are live in our production environment. We're gonna show you a few things today that are upcoming features. Just keep that in mind. But always make sure that you're making that decision based on what's live in production. Also, because we are recording this webinar and you will have the opportunity to download this webinar in the future, we do ask that you maintain the privacy, confidentiality, and security of this recording. Terms of our nondisclosure agreement are available online. But if you have other questions, if you'd like to share the recording with other people, please let us know. We can certainly get you copies of this information. Thank you for your legal attention. Now on to the good stuff. Today, we're gonna have a very good conversation, I hope. We're gonna start with a couple of introductions. Myself and my partner, Emily, will tell you a little bit about ourselves, and then we're gonna jump in and give you a little overview of Workday's AI strategy and vision, and then a demonstration of what you can what you can see today in Workday and how AI can help you in the higher education space. And I'm gonna come back around at the end and talk a little bit about the road map and what's to come and maybe give you a little peek at a couple of features that are coming up here in our next release in the fall and into 2027. Emily, I'll maybe give you the chance to introduce yourself, if you wouldn't mind. Yeah. Hello, everyone. My name is Emily Wozlowski. I am a financial solution consultant here at Workday specializing on our higher education team. Although I specialize in the financial side, you will be seeing platform, HR, finance, and students today. Based out of Chicago, and my entire career resides in higher ed. I started off as an auditor within the higher ed space, audited both Workday and non Workday customers. And in that work, was able to get a really well rounded understanding of what those different system constraints are that higher education is dealing with today and ultimately how Workday is coming in to help. So that's the perspective I'll be coming from. And of course, as you can see, we have some dogs on the slide. That bigger pup there is my dog, Vincent, a very important part of my life. So I always love to throw his cute picture up there. Brian, I'll pass back to you. Thanks, Emily. And hi, everybody. My name is Brian McGowan. I'm an enterprise architect here with Workday's state and local and higher education team. I'm out of Boulder, Colorado. And the other cute pup in the corner is Clover. That's my French bulldog. She's doing her best transparent GIF image today. Normally, I have the picture of her sleeping because when I'm doing a lot of my presenting, she's snoring in the background, and you can sometimes softly hear that. But she's actually here right here right now, so we'll hope that doesn't happen. Funny story, I loved Emily's little Chicago banner. I tried to pull it off there and use Gemini to change it to Boulder. I won't tell you how poorly that went. For some reason, just changing the word to Chicago to Boulder was a challenge. So AI is great except when it won't make exactly what you want. So, yeah, I'm from Boulder, but I couldn't figure out how to make that in the cool pictures. I loved it, Emily. It was really cool. So let's jump in and let's talk a little bit about AI. First off, Workday's AI strategy and vision. Everybody knows today our work our business environments are super complex. Lots of tasks that need to be done, lots of interactions in between departments, in between organizations, in between our campuses, in between our different users on campus, especially in a higher education space where we have faculty and we have staff and we have students trying to interact. That we what we're really struggling a lot with today is how do we keep our arms around all of those tasks that need to be done. On the people side, you've got things like performance. You're doing training. You're upskilling your employees. You're trying to retain your employees, and you're always looking for those new employees to bring into the mix. On the finance side, how do we track expenses? How do we make it easier to validate? How can we quick or or speed up our close processes, our payroll processes? And then wrapping around that as we've been doing now for years and years and years is technology solutions that we need to help enable our organization, our campus, our professors, our staff, our research projects, our grants. We need to be able to turbocharge all of those with technology, and we wanna still be able to maintain the security, the privacy, the compliance of that data inside the platform. It's a very complex maneuver. And we're seeing great applications today of us to apply AI. However, there's ways we want to apply AI in order to be able to take the most reasonable advantages from it. And so today, it's really about applying a human centric approach to AI. So how do we not replace humans but use that AI to augment the power and the ingenuity of our human partners? How can we automate reports? How can we verify data more quickly? How can we submit information quicker and faster? Really, can we reduce work and reduce human error? Now there's lots of different types of AI. Right? We know about kind of machine learning and what we would call automated tasks. Those have been around for a long time, and Workdays had a number of things that we used to call innovation services. Now we call them enhanced features. They're automations. They're workflows. They're things that help move processes through more efficiently. But that's just the beginning. As we get more and more interactions between AI and humans, the workforce starts to really expand and not just look for ways to increase performance, but also increase the the context of those interactions. So we start to bring in generative AI, things like how we can use job description generators to help us build a better job description that's more attractive to potential applicants for roles. Or how we can validate submissions through those application processes to see where there might be skills that are triggers for for what we're looking for in those spaces. And then we add on language models that allow our human workers to interact with those AI components in a natural language format so they don't have to understand how to kick off those processes. They can ask it in in natural language format questions. Please help me with this step. Please explain to me what the process is for bringing on a new employee. Please tell me about how I request a leave of absence from the from our organization. Being able to have those real natural language conversations allow our employees, our users, and our students to interact with those AI components seamlessly and easily. And ultimately, we want to build measurable outcomes. Right? We wanna amplify the talent of our human workers in our organizations. Again, we're not looking to replace them. We're looking to give them tools that help them exceed and grow and do more and and be more efficient in those processes. We also wanna boost productivity and really help them accelerate those processes and be able to find cost savings. We also wanna make better strategic decisions. More data in front of the users exactly when they need it so that they can use it to make those decisions in real time. And then finally, strengthening compliance. Being able to validate that we're not introducing bias, that we're learning and teaching our algorithms using a consistent set of data, and that we're adhering to corporate and campus policies at all times when we're using those AI features. When AI is done right, it really helps accelerate an organization. Here at Workday, we we have four kind of core values when we look at how we design, develop, and and roll out those I AI functions. And I'm actually gonna start down at the bottom right with responsible AI because that's one of the most important is making sure that that AI is trustworthy, that it's validated, and that you as the user are always in control of what it's doing. That means making sure that the AI is human in the loop, we call it. A human is engaged in the process and making those decisions, but also ensuring that you as a user of the system have the ability to turn on and off those features. So it's one of our core competencies is to demonstrate the transparency of how those AI features are built and then give you as the user the ability to turn those features on and off as you see fit so that they're gonna be able to meet your needs. The second thing is that that the quality data up in the upper right. One of the bedrocks of Workday is that we have over twenty years working with over 11,000 customers storing their information on their people and their money and their processes. And we're able to leverage that knowledge, and we're able to leverage that standardized dataset to give our AI clean data to as an input. One of the most risky factors in an AI model is is unstructured data, unclean data, data that isn't isn't predictable. So having that clean, consistent set of data is really important. And then making sure that those AI features have a value. This one seems like it's kind of a elementary concept, but, really, building AI features just because you can build an AI feature doesn't bring any value. Right? We want a a feature that actually brings value, that helps move the organization forward, that promotes a business process, or helps you get a task done that you need to do. There needs to be a reason for that AI feature. It isn't good enough just to build a feature because we can. It's need we need to build it because it's got an end a measurable return on investment. And finally, then making that platform open, that lower left quadrant. Building AI features and functions that assist in Workday and that that help you get what you need to get done, but also allowing you to add on additional features and functions where you need them. APIs, toolkits, agent builders, and even interactions with agents outside of the Workday system through things like agent to agent communication or through model context protocol where you can bring agents from outside Workday into the ecosystem and and have them work together seamlessly with your Workday agents. When you bring all of those together, you really build a system that helps elevate both humans and AI to maximize the investment. So let's look at it specifically in the in the higher education space. We talked to some of our higher education customers, and we've said we really wanna know what you need to be future ready. And 90% of those customers said that they need to improve their student experience so they can get better recruiting and retaining of students for all types of programs. They also said that they needed to improve the processes so that the faculty and staff can work on student. and strategic should. be at work. And finally, 88% of them want a unified system that brings all that data together. So it's your people, your financial data, and your student data in one platform, allowing you again to have that information when you need it, where you need it to make strategic decisions to help drive your university forward. If you want to be a future ready organization, that's where we come in. So our vision for higher education is simple. We want you to have a flexible, unified platform that elevates student experience, that empowers your campus community with strategic human centered business processes connected across HR, finance, and student. And Workday understands how those processes are operating and where those users are spending time so we can help make that more efficient for them. This combination is something that no other company in the HR or finance world can offer, and it now it enables us to rethink the way we work and transform those critical processes, delivering not only impactful value but exponential increases in performance and efficiency. In the world of HR, it means completely reimagining recruiting with AI to help drive down the end to end processing time by up to 50%. In finance, it's AI to close the books in half the time with half the people. And for students, it's meeting them where they are with tools and capabilities that allow them to be in their processes they use every day and provide a seamless and engaging experience to help them focus on what's important in their student pathway. And all over and over all of this is enabling your resources and revenue to be focused on your mission. We're excited to walk you through this today and talk about it. What's at the core of that functionality is our Workday dataset. Over twenty years of working with over 11,000 customers and building the largest single constructed structured dataset in the space. We're not just throwing AI at solutions and problems. We're actually thinking about how we can make it better and how we can help enable your organization to move faster. And that's what's really important. We have that HR data today and we're able to work against that data in a way that most organizations can't. Because all of Workday's customers are sharing that same platform and that same software version, there's never a chance that you won't be able to adopt a feature because of the version of Workday you're on or because of configuration changes you've made. All of our customers can always adopt those features and functions immediately when they're available. And that's how our customers really love using Workday. It's why our customer success and satisfaction ratings are so high. They trust us to deliver AI that meets their needs and functions. Quick take a look at our at our platform. So we're gonna talk today about a couple of different types of AI. Right? In the center is that data and context in the Workday system. That's at the core of everything that we do. It's your people data, your money data, your student data. It's structured according to the Workday data model, and it's consistent across customers so that it's easy for us to build features that that work for all of our customers. Wrapping around that then is our AI, both agentic and non agentic AI. Some of the features that I talked about earlier, their machine learning and more automated processing, all the way up to full agent interactions with your users. And then wrapping around that are our build platform components, which we'll talk a little bit in our road map at the end, allowing you to build your own agents or hook those agents up to the Workday system and leveraging our APIs and connectivity to branch out and use our open system to share that data with the other other applications in your environment. Let's take a quick look at the next slide. Thank you. This one was a little look at the features that are most often consumed by our higher education customers. So looking at the customers today who are consuming them and just giving you a little idea of what those features are. Some of them like Skills Cloud where we're helping match skills against existing resources in your environment to help surface those talented individuals who might be a great fit for a different role. If things like receipt scanning and expenses and validation of supplier automation, all the way up to Workday Assistant where Workday Assistant can use natural language commands to help you move through tasks and also surface policies and information that's required for your end users to make their day to day operations in Workday. What's important for us really is building that responsibility and trust, making sure that we're aligning to our principles, which are building those features with human in the loop and making sure that our features and functions serve a measurable purpose and outcome, and that they align with your policies and procedures. I did wanna give you the little bit on the right hand side of the why it matters. Workday Workday has a strict compliance and security program around all parts of our platform, but that extends across all components of the Workday AI system as well. Includes our ISO certification, our SOC two audits, and our recently acquired ISO 42,000 certification around responsible AI development. So not only does Workday understand those requirements around responsibility and and safe development of these AI features, but we we stand behind it. We're certified under 42,000. We're also on the governance board that helps set that direction for that certification. So we're helping to develop new AI responsible measurements and then living up to those measurements as well. And we continue to innovate with confidence. Like I said, all AI features are something that you can control whether you want to contribute data to or not. Part of our transparency in those features is making sure that you're aware of what data is being contributed, what data is being returned to you, and how those models are trained so you can determine which ones are appropriate for you to use in your organization. What we're really gonna show you today is how you can elevate that performance across higher education, making it easier for your users to work through the processes they need every day, how they can apply those across human resources, finance, and IT, and students so that you can see a little bit of what the future might look like for your organization. And I think with that, I'm gonna pass it over to you, Emily, for the demo. Yes. Awesome. Thank you, Brian, for laying that foundation of of what we're bringing to the table with Workday AI. Now it's time to actually see it in action. So what we're gonna be taking a look at is two different user personas. We're first going to log in as Liberty Barrera. She's going to be that end user experience. We're going to see this from a student worker point of view. Then we're gonna log in as Matthew Fong. He's gonna show us that manager and administrator experience logging in as the VP of finance and administration. And I just wanna double check. Is is everyone able to to hear me alright? Brian, can you hear me? Yep. Yep. I can hear you. hear you. Okay. Saw something in the chat there, so I wanted to double check. Alright. So let's go ahead and dive into the demonstration environment. So logging in as our user, Liberty Barrera. For those that haven't seen Workday before, just gonna give you a quick navigation tour. Starting on our left, you have our configurable global navigation menu. So this is so showing the areas that Liberty as a student worker has access to. So, you know, her benefits, pay, but also academics hub, financials hub for her her student related needs. So Workday's always surfacing what you're able to see and do based on your role. In the middle here, we have our search bar. You can search for any people, tasks, reports, things that your role has access to see just using that natural language. And the home page is really intuitive and smart, so it's surfacing the most recent and relevant information based on your role. So here, we have any action items, which are also shown in this upper right hand corner. These are routed to you based on your role in the business process framework or our workflow engine. Timely suggestions are really just notifications, also shown here, things that don't require your direct action, but definitely things that are important for you to be aware of, like any past due balances. So let's get to know Liberty a bit better navigating to her profile. Here, we can get to really see everything around Liberty as both a student and a worker. So related to her as a student, we can see her class standing, her her primary program of study, any account balances, real time degree audit, which is included in Workday student, a favored feature of Workday by the the students that use it. And then below, we can see her access to her as a worker. So right now, we're seeing academics information, hold items. But if we switch to her as a worker, we're now seeing that related information. So her manager on campus, how long she's been in the role, and then things around her career performance compensation and so on. Now since Liberty has been working at the institution, she's really been enjoying her time there and is curious about exploring what that postgrad life could look like, and potentially continuing that postgrad life as a a full time faculty or staff member. So what Workday is able to do is really help your people be empowered to enhance their careers, boost their careers, and refine them internally by navigating to the career hub. As we know in higher ed, turnover can be a huge challenge, and finding new folks to fill roles is costly and time consuming. So work that really empowers your people to find those opportunities within. So here we can see a career hub, which is a truly personalized experience. So for your first time navigating to it, Workday is going to ask you some questions to really curate the experience to you. So it's going to ask things around your skills. This alludes to that skills cloud that Brian mentioned. Here, can see some of those skills are being recommended to Liberty through that AI technology. It knows her information based on her role, her worker history. So, therefore, it's able to prompt some some recommended skills that she can enhance her worker profile with. So you can always find the right people based on their skills and can search for people on skills as well, which is especially helpful. But here, we're just gonna add some skills in. Let's say she's familiar with research supervision, is skilled in maybe program implementation and coordination. We'll have a few of those in. And then it prompts some additional questions around growing in the role, growing beyond the role. So maybe if she's interested in checking out other roles or or areas within the institution, or maybe she's open to both. So we'll just say that she is open to both, either growing in the role or beyond. And now here's where we specify any particular job interests. So we'll go ahead and add a few of those in. And then any skill interests that she wants to develop, either current skills that she hopes to further refine or new skills that she's hoping to add to her her skill portfolio. And then finally, how much time do we have available to maybe spend on other teams, maybe shadow other folks within the institution to see if there's there's interest there in a new career path. So we're just gonna say we have about one to five extra hours per week to do that. And now that we've entered some information here, we get a truly personalized experience within Workday's career hub. So based on all of that information, Workday is able to surface potential job openings that might be of interest to your people based on their current skills, skill interests, and so on. Also able to connect you with potential mentors. As we all know, it is so important that the people that you work with at your your college or university, they play a big role in if you continue to be retained there. And so Workday is being proactive here by encouraging that relationship building. So encouraging meeting with a a mentor to maybe further enhance skills, or maybe they're they're in a role that you could see yourself in. This is a great way to connect with those folks and learn more about it. Or even just connecting with a coworker. Again, being able to foster that relationship building to help further prevent any any turnover and drive retention. And finally, the learning piece. So there's there's learning in Workday. So Workday is able to to surface recommended courses based on those skill interests to ensure that you are as eligible as possible for those potential careers that you might be pursuing down the road. So a great personalized AI powered experience to help really address that challenge of turnover in higher education. Now after spending all this time reflecting on her career, maybe she applied to some roles, Liberty finds herself wanting to learn more about certain benefits that might be offered at the institution. So, luckily, she has this, nice agent here, the self-service agent, otherwise known as as Workday assistant, that can help answer any questions that we have. So it can can summarize policies. It can kick off tasks like submitting time off. And so maybe she's particularly curious about the tuition reimbursement policy. Of course, she's a student right now, so she's paying for tuition. And she's curious if she could be potentially reimbursed for this down the road if she were to pursue a career at our our institution here. So she wants our assistant, our our self-service agent to summarize the tuition reimbursement policy. She wants to get a better understanding if she would even be eligible. So because all of this information is housed within Workday, so the self-service agent is able to find that information, summarize it, and really connect to those dots for our end users here. So here, we get a quick summary on the eligibility. We can see to be eligible, we must be a full time employee, completing at least six months of employment, and then we would be eligible for up to about $5,000 of reimbursement per year. And here, we can even see some additional next steps on how to request that reimbursement as well. So instead of having to spend that time searching through all of those HR documents, maybe jumping into a different system to find this information, our self serve self-service agent is empowering your people to have that information on demand and spend less time searching for the information and more time doing. So now that she has this understanding of these benefits, maybe she's even more inclined to continue her career at the institution here. Alright. So as you recall, Liberty is also a student. So now let's imagine registration has opened, and Liberty now needs to start to build out her schedule. So with Workday, we can do exactly that by jumping to our academic hub, which is a one stop shop for all of those academic related needs and information. For your students, they can be prompted with some important information that might be they might need to be aware of, like registration is now open. We also get a a quick, highlight overview of pertinent information around potential holds on on your accounts or important contacts that you might need to be aware of upcoming registration appointments, really giving your students that quick glance to to where things are at. We can also view her academic history and and academic progress with that degree audit. And below, we can start to create academic plans or saved schedules. Now this is the preferred way of registering for students is creating a saved schedule. They can create this ahead of time prior to registration. So when that registration window opens, it's just as simple as clicking register with with just one click. So it saves a ton of time. That's the preferred method. But, of course, you have to build out that saved schedule. So let's imagine that we're at that step. So what Liberty is gonna do is start to look for all of those those courses that might be available for the particular semester. So let's look at the the current spring semester for our undergrad level. Here, we will be prompted with all of those available course sections. We can filter by a number of criteria here. She's a biology major, so we'll filter for biology. And Liberty is very ambitious, so she wants to try and register for the the highest level 400 course. So clicking into this link, you can see an overview of this this course and and the specific section. We can see the status that it is open. We can see who is teaching the course. Looks like we do have seats available, so it's nice to know that ahead of time prior to registering. Can see the delivery mode, where it is on campus, and so on. Now from here, she could add this to her saved schedule and and call it a day and, you know, save the registration piece for later. If she was eligible and able to register, there would be another button here that would just allow her to register for this course right from here. But, clearly, that is not there, so she might not be eligible. But, luckily, Workday is meeting our students in the flow of their work with this troubleshoot button. So heading to troubleshoot will bring us to the the registration troubleshooting hub. This is visible to both students and advisers, so really helps people to to be on the same page here and gives us a a rundown of why we may or may not be eligible, for taking this course. So we can see things like the, any registration appointments that she needs to handle, any holds on her accounts. And here we can see exact reasons, again, why she may or may not be able to register with a simple yes or no. So it looks like she hasn't received permission from the biology department. But what we heard from our customers is that although this page is helpful, it's still a lot of information for your everyday student. And we really have a focus for making things as simple as possible for those students as they're navigating these moments that really matter. So what we brought to our customers is this summarize results button that is, again, leveraging AI to summarize all of this information into a clean, very clear screen that indicates why we're not able to register. So it looks like we have one or more student holds, and we don't meet those eligibility requirements. As you've seen, she hasn't received permission from the department. So very clear what actions need to be taken for our student here to continue to to take this course. So instead of having to panic and and start to email or call her adviser, she knows exactly what action needs to be taken, and the adviser would also have this view into Workday as well. So by giving your students that great technology, that great experience, meeting them in the flow of their work, leads to better retention on the student side as well. Because even technology bottlenecks can add that additional stress to students and could eventually lead to them leaving institutions. So by giving them that best experience possible really elevates everyone. Okay. So we saw a little bit on the the HR side with career hub, self-service aspects with our our self-service agent, as well as on the student side, this troubleshoot registration hub, allowing our students to be very clear on on what needs to be done when it comes time for registration. But now let's switch to that manager and admin point of view to really focus a bit more on how Works dot ai can help more of the back office teams. So we're gonna log in now as mister Matthew Fong. And since he is at that that VP level, he has some some team members that he oversees, and his homepage looks a little bit different as well. So since he's a VP of finance and administration, he has different action items here that are surfacing to him, all based on that role. Now getting to know Matthew a bit better, we can view his profile and can see all of his related information, but also this team icon that is available for him. This is an interactive org chart, so we can see who rolls up to Matthew, who Matthew rolls up to, and you can really get to know the infrastructure of your institution a lot better. But this also is informing the security of Workday as well. So Workday knows that since he is a manager of all of these folks below, he should have certain security access to reflect that. So what does that mean? Well, since he's a manager, he has access to things like the manager insights hub. Gives your managers a one stop shop for all of that most pertinent information related to their direct reports, like any pending time off requests, a hiring and staffing summary, if there's any job requisitions that are that are in the queue and the different steps that they are in. You can see some additional, areas that we can navigate to, can get a quick rundown of our our team compensation at a quick glance, and can see our our team overall from here as well. Now let's imagine that it is about the time for performance reviews, and Matthew is tasked to start to facilitate those conversations. And Workday gives your managers the tools to have the most meaningful conversations possible with as minimal administrative work required. So let's imagine that Carmen is the first one up to complete her performance review with Matthew. And within the manager insights hub, Matthew gets a full rundown on Carmen's current skill set, her skill interests, maybe any development items or goals that she has entered as a part of that performance review process that can be facilitated within Workday. Here, we can dig into more detail around any of these items here, any feedback that she's received, her current compensation, can even have some easy action items that she could navigate to from here. Or what what Matthew could do is generate a talent highlights. So because Workday has all of this important worker information housed within the platform, Workday's AI is able to compile all of that information, all of that skills, all of the feedback that she's received, her performance reviews, her development items, and goals that she has entered. It's able to compile all of that into a easy to read summary. So when it comes time for those those performance reviews, Matthew's able to just review this summary, know those most most critical items that are on Carmen's mind, and then can really have that meaningful conversation with her. So it looks at all of these these data sources to the right, her job, her details, those performance reviews, goals, and so on, and gives Matthew that that quick rundown of all of that information. So we'll see if we can refresh here to get that that loading. I'll try one more time. But, ultimately, this this task of doing those performance reviews typically requires a lot of that manual effort to to find this information, to dig through emails, and and figure out where all of this, you know, more more soft skills, all that resides and really takes that administrative work off of your team's plates and allows your managers, your your your people to move that time back to the their their day to day tasks, really those value add activities and and less time just compiling the information and, ultimately, more time doing. So it would provide that summary, that rundown of all of these data sources that we had seen to the right. Now we've talked about agents a little bit, and Workday is able to be that that agent system of record. So here we can see a a overview of all of the agents that we've been using, some stats around those agents, how often they're being used, how many active agents that are in our our environment. We can see those current active agents as well as their skills, so what they're able to do. And if we wanted to register for for additional agents and really maximize our investment with Workday, here, you can see everything that is available and that you could be eligible to to roll out in your your, Workday environment when you're ready to do so. So one of the agents that we have enabled here is our financial audit agent. So now let's spend some time on on talking about how Workday can help for the finance side of the house. Now as a former auditor, this specific feature is one that rings near and dear to me because I wish so badly that some of my former clients had this. But what financial audit agent does is it really compiles all of the the data for for those audit requests. So audit season can be filled with a ton of t's requests and increased work for your back office accounting teams. And financial audit agent allows you to take advantage of all that rich data that lives within Workday and automatically prepares those PDC responses, assembles all of that sample data directly into packages from those audit requests. So I'm just going to search for audit requests. And let's imagine that our auditors had asked for some some information around invoices. So they identified Protech as one of our top suppliers, and they wanna see some some support around that. They wanna see the largest invoices from Protech and all of these supporting doc documentation to to reflect that. So what we're doing is just describing to our financial audit agent for Alma Mater University, return the largest three Protech supplier invoices and all of the supporting documents with it. Now, typically, all of this information might be housed in separate systems. So you might have a separate tool for your procurement data and a separate tool for your general ledger that has all of those journal entries. But with Workday, that's not the case. All of that is in the same system. So that means that this agent is able to compile all of that and and assemble that into a package that is easily to be downloaded and and printed or emailed to to the auditors when they request that information. So currently, this audit agent is in the early adopter phase, but will be slated to be generally available in the upcoming fall. So here, it's just going to have us review the type of documents that we want to gather. We'll say, yes. That looks good. We do wanna gather all of those related documents that it had specified. And now it's going to compile that that actual support. Now when I I had to request this information from my former clients, it would take quite a long time because, again, they were logging in and out of different systems, trying to find these the these pieces of information manually. But Workday is doing all of that work for you. So it had found not only the invoices, but the actual payments, the check, the journal entry, the bank statement that it was paid within. If we wanted to, we could open any of this information up. So if I wanted to see the the exact journal entry that related to this invoice, we could open that up in a new tab, and we can see the the exact debits and credits related to this invoice. So can always drill in and and can see that supporting documentation and can further verify it. So there we can see our our debits and and credits there, all of the the chart of accounts with that, so all of your dimensionality. And it can be assembled into this package alongside of the invoice, the payment, the check that was cut, all of that available here to be packaged and then downloaded and and provided to your auditors. So a huge time saver there during that audit season, which is just an additional task for your back office teams on top of their day to day work. It's gonna really give them that that valuable time back. So that's how Workday can help from that finance lens. But now let's talk a bit more about student again. So let's imagine that you decided to go all in with Workday students, and you're you're in that that deployment stage or maybe nearing the end of it, and you wanna figure out, you know, how do we configure certain things? How do we really maximize our investment and and take advantage of the functionality that's available? Well, what deployment agent is able to do is it's able to look through all of those administrator guides, all of the the release information, the feature release information that Workday gets out to our customers. All of this information resides within Workday community, and Deployment Agent is able to search on that information and provide you answers to any configuration or best practices related questions, and it's able to search within that knowledge base. So we can ask it a question like, how do I set up and manage academic calendars in Workday Student? And, again, it's going to search through that large repository of information within Workday Community and can give you a step by step detailed instruction for how to make these configurations in the tool. So with Workday, we're always ensuring that our customers have the the information they need to maximize their investment, and deployment agent is just one of those ways. You can quickly ask questions on how do I make these configurations? How do I create a certain type of of report or do something in Workday? And it's going to retrieve that information for you and and and compile it in a way that is is easy to to navigate through and allow you to to rule out those configurations in your in your Workday environment. So here, we'll see in a few moments all of those detailed instructions and even sources to where it had gotten that information so that you can, if you want to, dig into those sources and read read up more about it. So here we go. Of course, here's a comprehensive guide on how to set up and manage academic calendars in Workday Student. We get an overview. We get an understanding of what those prerequisites are, and then the actual step by step guide along with additional information on, more advanced configurations that we could do, reports that we could view and have access to, all available here. And we can give it feedback. We can say this is or is not what we're looking for. And here, we can, also see the sources as well. So, again, allowing you to ensure that you are equipped with the knowledge you need to make the most out of your investment with Workday. Alright. So with that being said, that is everything I I was going to show for the the, demonstration piece. You saw a little bit on the HR side, a little bit on the student side, and finance side. And we really are just scratching the surface. There is so much more to show in these different areas. So if there is interest to learn more, please reach out to your account executive, and we'd be happy to provide deeper conversations on this. But, really, just to to talk about the value here, how Workday is different, it does come down to the data. It's the largest and cleanest dataset in the industry. It has that context to give you actual results that are helpful with the the AI. Why this matters? Well, Workday's data is is transparent. It's on a highly secure environment. It's extensible and scalable. And what this means for our customers is it's leading to optimized technology platform. It's lowering that total cost of ownership, reducing risk, and giving you the foundation to grow and innovate. It's unlocking operational capacity, enabling your people to do more strategic work, and it's enabling that institutional outperformance, allowing you to get better insights and identify strategic growth and opportunities. And Workday is truly committed to the higher ed industry. It is the first industry vertical that Workday committed to and is the only industry that has a dedicated product with Workday Student. So we are continuously innovating in the fit in the space, investing in it, and we are being recognized as a leader as well from these these third party consulting groups that are really seeing Workday as a true market leader with this industry focus in higher ed. So to really show how Workday is investing in higher ed and it is innovating, I'm gonna pass it back to Brian to talk about what's to come as far as, innovations and and road map items go. So, Awesome. Brian, I will pass it. back to you. Thanks, Emily. I'm gonna pause real quick. We have gotten a couple of questions in the chat, and we're gonna try to get to those here in a second. But I'll also welcome anyone to add any questions now because we'd love to answer a few of them before we wrap up today. So dump them in there if you see them, and I like I said, I see a couple of them coming in, so we'll come back and circle back to those in a second. Maybe just to pick off when I see there's one. Do we know what LLMs are used behind the AI agents in Workday? There's a set of AI fact sheets available in Workday community that describe which model is being used for each feature. There are features that use different models depending on what they're achieving. So at a broad level, I would say that for agents that have a natural language conversation, we're using a public language model that's been trained on public information about questions. So the inferences that your that your users are submitting are being bumped up against the publicly trained model. Workday doesn't train that model. Workday doesn't use those inferences to train the model. It's it's pretrained to be able to handle those questions. When you get a little deeper into some of the specific functionalities, it depends on what the function is and how that model works. So I'd encourage you to check out Workday Community and and definitely reach out if you have specific questions, and we can help with those. But, yeah, let's take a quick look at the road map, and then I'll leave it a little bit of time for some questions at the end. The biggest thing for us here at Workday is that we're building an open solution and open platform for agents across the Workday ecosystem. So Workday's developed internal agents, third party agents that are available to you through the Workday marketplace, as well as agents that you can build and deploy yourself either inside or outside of Workday using either our low code, no code agent construction or billing agents completely outside of Workday and connecting them through something like agent to agent or MCP. Emily, are you able to yeah. There we go. Thank you. So we're gonna look at just a little bit about the agents, and and Emily touched on Workday's agent system of record. That's really the core of everything that we that we do. So, again, as we look at agents that are rolling out today, we've got a set of agents available in production today. We also have a set of agents available in our early adopter program. So some customers have early adopted those agents. A number of those EA agents that you see there actually went live last week as part of our release one functionality in in 2026 r '1. A lot of the agent functionality is coming in release two September 2026. So you'll see lots more information about these agents that are moving from EA to general release as we get a little further into 2026. Just to dive click a little bit deeper into those agents, the ones that we're getting a lot of interest in, agents for your platform. So agent builder powered by Flowwise. I'll show you a little bit of that here in just a second, but that's allowing you to build those agents, take your business processes that you maybe already have defined and create an agent if Workday doesn't have one available. For higher education specifically, we've got our student administration agent. I'm gonna give you a quick preview of that, but also student and faculty agents to help surfacing policies and information across financial planning. You saw some of those during Emily's demonstration, but our our financial test agents and our financial close agents helping you to really streamline those processes in your finance departments. And then on the HIR and workforce management side, lots of things. Questions like or or agents like the deployment agent that can help you with managing your deployment. Also, our BP Copilot business process Copilot agent, which will help take business process that's documented maybe on paper or in PDF format and help you create business processes and then tune and tweak those business processes to make them more efficient. Lots of exciting agents coming up during the course of 2026. If we look specific at those higher education student yeah. Those higher education agents, mentioned the student and faculty agents. Those are the interaction agents that'll help you surface things like policies and documents and processes. The one I wanna focus on is in the center, the student administration agent. We're gonna take just a quick look at it. How an agent is made up. Agents have skills, and they have and they have interactions. And so if we look at that student administration agent and double click into it a little bit more, we'll see a set of skills. Today, our in progress skills, transcript processing, transfer credit assistance, academic requirements configuration, and those core policies, and then future skills that we'll be adding on you see over on the right. I just wanted to show you quickly the transcript processor and the transfer credit assistance. So we'll look at that transfer or transcript processor first. Again, you can imagine that you're working on bringing in transcript processing. A student submits their transcript to your university. You're gonna get this dashboard. You'll be able to look at which ones need attention. Click on that transcript. The AI will then look at that and tell you what it is about that transcript that requires information. In this case, we're missing a couple of grades, and we need to be able to show that transcript has all the information. We can even click for more information from the agent, and it's gonna cross reference the policy for our admissions and tell us the agent has identified a missing class that's required for admission into the school of nursing. We say we understand, and then we can notify the student right away that that that transcript needs to be updated so that we can get them processed. Similarly, on the credit transfer assistant, when students are submitting for credits to transfer in as part of their part of their application, we can look at that credit that credit transfer and that agent can tell us what does it look like that class probably fits for a requirement in our program. Again, looking at the at the documentation and program docs, be able to understand where that credit fits in, tells us how it matches up. We can then go ahead and submit that transfer credit for consideration for that student, helping to really drive that process down of doing those manual matches. So just a couple of quick looks at how that agent can help make things more streamlined in your admissions processes. Now all of those agents are deployed in that same framework. You saw a little bit of it during Emily's presentation. Agent system of record is the orchestrator of all agents. Workday agents, partner or third party agents, and even your custom agents. They all plug into Workday's agent system of record, which allows us to track, configure, and manage the life cycle of those agents. So if we look at it just a little bit closer, we see the that we can build those agents and then register them with agent system of record where you'll be able to see that agent and know that it's active and what its agent's purpose is. You're then able to configure that agent. So setting up security permissions, roles, information about how that agent's gonna operate. And then you can gather key measurements about that agent's performance. So you can tell not only are people using that agent, but are they getting value out of that agent, again, helping you deliver that ROI on those agents. And finally, at the point you wanna end of life that agent and be able to deactivate it and remove it from the organization, you can do that. Now imagine that framework wraps around your existing security model in Workday today. So you've already configured your users and their permission levels for Workday tasks. This agent system of record allows you to plug those digital workers in, assign them roles and permissions just like a human worker would have, and then have those agents follow that same security model. So you're always guaranteed that agent's never gonna have access to data that it shouldn't have or be able to do execute business processes or tasks that it doesn't have permissions for. Really quick, I think we we we covered kind of the the impact of the agent. The other thing is that measuring that result and the ROI on those agents. So making measurable recommendations about are we getting value from those agents? Are we able to see that? And, again, that applies to not only Workday agents, third party agents, or agents you construct as well. And managing that life cycle of the agent. Guess I covered that one already. So skip ahead to the next one, please. So in addition to the agent system of record, we then got the ability for you to build additional applications. So using Flowwise, that's our low code, no code construction tool for building agents, but also things like extend or orchestrations or data cloud to be able to connect to data analytics tools. All of that part of our Workday build platform that wraps around that AI core, and it gives you the ability to add on or use the Workday system in in tangent in in concert with your outside applications. Just a quick look at the Flowwise builder. Again, it's a no code, low code way for you to take existing business processes and string them together to create your own agent. So if you wanted a alumni donation agent, you could use existing business processes, add LLMs on top, and create an agent that could service that need in your organization. It's available to work with APIs as well as outside agents as well, so you can integrate tools and bring in third party systems. And then additional capabilities we're bringing forward are big exciting announcement is sauna as the new front door to Workday. It's gonna allow you to have that natural language LLM conversation with Workday and be able to use Workday where you where you need it, how you need it inside of AI interaction. So you'll be able to interact directly instead of clicks and menus. You can use natural language. Also, Paradox helps engage on that candidate registration and and HR onboarding processes. And then Pipedream allows you to use AI to help build integrations for systems that you may not have integrations with today. They may not have a standard integration for Workday. You can use AI to build those integrations, all available to our customers here coming soon. And then finally, just looking at what we've got planned in the future. So this year, we've got a ton of agents and skills and new features rolling out in 2026 and then a lot on the horizon coming up at the 2026 and early into 2027. It's always my plug to make sure that you're on your got your got Rising on your calendar in September because a lot of those product announcements you see in the vision category are gonna be coming out and demonstrating live in real time at Rising in the fall. So please come see us at Rising. We'd love to show you more of those features and functions. Really, that's it. I realized I didn't leave a whole lot of time for questions, but I'll maybe quickly scan and see. Emily, any questions you saw that you wanna address? I did see there was one about, can the deployment agent use internal config documentation sources? Well, yes, you can add additional sources, and you can train on additional information if you've got documentation outside of Workday that you wanted to be able to add. We I did answer one about the deployment agent as well. Is it possible to create custom AI agents using Copilot Studio and any Workday plugin? I'd probably have to talk a little bit more with you on that question, but, yes, it is possible for you to create custom AI agents using I'm assuming you're talking about maybe Microsoft Copilot, I think. And, yes, we do have integrations from Microsoft Copilot as well. Lots of opportunities there. Any other questions before we close it down today? Okay. Emily, thank you. Fantastic. Thanks for the demo. And I guess I'll I'll I'll give kind of the last plug. The recording will be available to you. If you have additional questions, please reach out to your account executive or your customer success teams. They can certainly get you connected with us or with some of our other other coworkers and workday workmates here who can help with more. Otherwise, we hope you have a great workday. Alright. Thank you, everyone. Thank you.
